Strawberry
As Grantaire bent to give A a welcome back kiss from wherever he spent the weekend, leaving without a word after their biggest fight, he caught the smell of something sweet lingering on his lover's hair. Sun-warmed strawberries. He smiled, relieved.
"So how was the weekend at Les'?"
"Fine," A said, and realized he had just betrayed where he had been. "Did he tell you?"
"No, but I don't know anyone else who uses strawberry-scented shampoo. Making me jealous, hm?"
"N - no." But A was letting his head fall back as Grantaire slid his hands up under the shirt. "Mm, maybe a little."
"It worked." Grantaire pounced on him, and no other words were said the whole afternoon.

Bubblegum
When A came in blowing a bubblegum, Grantaire knew something was wrong. A never chewed bubblegum, probably because it distorted his face while he chewed, and face was important for A. That A was also wearing a garish plaid shirt over black and brilliant accessories heightened the impression of wrongness. A was not into the grungy look - he looked his best in black, something he knew.
"Going somewhere, A?"
"A concert with the little ones." Little ones being Ivan, Dee, and Jam, younger than A by more than a decade, but surprisingly not with Les, who he treated like an equal. Grantaire tugged at his hand. "You told me tonight was not good."
"So I did." He slid his hand up under the shirtsleeve, lips twisting as A went on chewing on the gum, like a cow chewing cud. "But I freed up my schedule, and I made reservations for dinner. I must dine alone then."
"Sorry." Pretending to be nonchalant, Chew chew chew, and Grantaire just couldn't take it anymore. He pulled A down for a deep kiss.
When it was done Grantiare stuck his tongue out, picking off the gum from his tongue. "Don't pretend to be young at all, A. I love you the way you are."
