I listened to this song over and over (again) and I officially recognize it as a song for the Hikaru no Go Wishes album. Yun lang. But a really, really, really interesting song in a R&B sort of way is Clazziquai's You Never Know. O_o;
Yeah, and that reminds me - I just read an article about a Japanese coffeeshop that opened a branch here in Manila - and I want to go there for some good old coffee loving! Ta - ci - ta! ^_^ So now the building block were Trinkets is located looks like this:

The bookshop owner is the one that ends up with the ditzy manga-ka, as per Anna's suggestion. *laughs* Don't think I forgot about that already!
Why have I ended up making so many L5r ficlets lately? Ask Hisui-san - I'm still recovering from the burst of idea intoxication her last visit brought me. Also, I seem to like Tsubasa a lot. He's - nice. *fangirls* And of course the idea of anything remotely sentai-ish (in the form of Unicorn Battler YongHa) is enough to cement my love for these characters. Maybe because Souji and YongHa aren't together in the way Akira and Hikaru are, so I can angst my way though the relationship. In fact, I believe that I can;t for the life of me think of a good complication for HikaAki (in L5r, as opposed to in Hikaru no Go)
Naruto
On the first day he was so light, so light as to be ghostly.

This doddering, drooling, _thing_ couldn't be Sasuke - can't be Sasuke because Sasuke would die rather than to continue on existing like this, not like this, broken down, worthless, lower than an animal, unable to fend to himself.
And Naruto had to turn away, squeezing his eyes shut as he tried to remember, tried vainly to remember his rival, smiling down with superiority from a place ahead of him.
***
"Towers topple down without thinking of the path of destruction in its wake."

Sasuke was making a tower out of the empty cup ramens and ramen bowls littering Naruto's room. His broken movements were meaningless as he muttered words under his breath.

L5r
When Souji looked at him, there was a frisson of awareness down his back. He knew what Souji was trying to see, and that was his right eye, hidden beneath the curtain of hair. He would not show Souji the eye though. He had his pride, and when Souji sees it he would be disgusted.
"Do you think that this eye now defines you?"
***
And the way Komiya looked at it - part-reverence, part-longing, told how he felt.
He felt a nameless dread steal into his heart, and he doubted, that after this night, they would ever get the chance to hold hands. He held on more tightly, and Komiya turned to him, smiling.
"Scared?"
Of tomorrow, he nearly said. Of what may happen, when you find something more important you can grasp instead of my hand. Instead he let go.

Those big eyes, and that submission. They wrecked havoc to his senses, and Touju didn't know why. He was Incubus, he had driven others mad through their lust, and yet, seeing himself reflected in Mizusu's eyes, he was the one driven mad. [Devil x Devil]
Binetsu Kakumei: Stay
[Happy obcure manga hunting! Binetsu Kakumei can be found in Sweet Cream and focuses on the relationship between the son of the Dragon King and a omeless house guardian (care to explain?). In typical ZK fashion, I zeroed in on the side relationship (Ryuu-oh and Izuna). I think Izuna's slightly off here. But then I had a hard time writing completely in Ryuu-oh's perspective.]
In the halls of the great house the Dragon king stood alone, appreciating the stillness between sunset and nightfall. Court was finished, and the day's work done; All that was waiting for him tonight was dinner and rest. He certainly deserved it, overseeing his world's affairs after that long and arduous discussion in private with his son. Why was he so adamant about going to the human world? And in the company of that house guardian. More than the affection of a master and servant existed between them - he could read the signs well enough. He knew he should have severed the relationship between the two a long time ago, but how could he be so cruel?
In the end he had given in, and the taste of this defeat was still bitter in his mouth.
How did Izuna say it? 'You're always harping about responsibility and duties. Let the boy have his last hurrah before you make him king. Everyone knows you've got a big enough sense of duty for everyone in the palace.'
Izuna was being honest when he said that, but it had hurt. He never showed it, but it had cut very deeply. He cared for his son's welfare. It would've been cruel to sever their ties to each other, but did Tatsuki know of the heartbreak he will have to endure soon, when the duties finally have to take precedence over love?
"All alone, Ryuu-oh? Where are your attendants?"
He refused to answer. Or maybe he couldn't answer, because of his longing swelling into his throat, and then his voice will come out broken. Izuna would know then.
"Ah, is that it? You're still angry." Izuna walked around Ryuu-oh, apparently checking his king's appearance. Ryuu-oh stood still, hoping not to draw attention to the lock of grey streaking his hair. "Nothing amiss here. Still as cool as ever." If he was trying to get the Dragon King's attention he failed miserably. He sighed. "Fine. I still think it's a good idea Tatsuki can experience a little bit of freedom, and that house guardian with him will make sure the young prince's comfortable."
"You are not always right, you know, Izuna," Ryuu-oh said in what Izuna always said was his 'King voice'.
"When it comes to your welfare though I am, right?"
He didn't want to encourage Izuna anymore. "No, you aren't."
A look of shock and sadness crossed the martial arts master's face, quickly chased away by anger. "Ah, right. How would I know everything about you so well? You never let me get close enough, do you?"
Ryuu-oh looked straight into Izuna's eyes, not saying anything. "Izuna," he said, his tone a warning.
"You always move away when I try to reach you. You never want me, do you? You think I'm just here as your personal burden. Don't worry, now that your son is gone there's no reason for me to stay, is there?" Izuna stood there with fists clenched, awaiting his response. Ryuu-oh couldn't answer; rather he could, but he wouldn't permit himself. Izuna turned and left the hall.
'The King must never need the support of anyone, least of all a lover. Such attachments weaken you,' was what his teachers always said, when they saw his eyes wander to the energetic child that was given to him as a playmate and companion, training beside him during martial arts training. What they never realized was that it had been too late--he was snared by Izuna's smile and carefree attitude. He had been snared since the very first time Izuna extended his hand to him, uncaring of the differences in their station.
Izuna was his only freedom.
In the halls of the great house the Dragon king was lonely. He tugged at his collar; it felt so confining. This hall was a cage for him. Everything about this palace was not what he wanted. What he wanted was--
Later that night Ryuu-oh was alone again.
He thought how stupid he was for wanting Izuna so badly when he knew the price he'll have to pay. His teachers knew this was the consequence, and was just trying to stop the inevitable. This was a path all Dragons who have sinned took. And this time there was no Izuna to go after him, for he'd been the one to push Izuna away.
He was in the woods they escaped to before as young men. The way was tortuous and difficult, and not one of his attendants knew of his fondness for it. Ryuu-oh started at the heavy hand on his shoulder, but then a warm body pressed itself to his back, and Izuna's heady scent wafted around him. "I'm here."
Izuna would always find him. Izuna knew him that well. Ryuu-oh closed his eyes, letting Izuna's warmth drive deep into the coldness in his heart. Izuna was comforting.
He heard Izuna's muffled, " I'm sorry. I can never stay angry with you for long."
How can Izuna say those words so easily? Why couldn't he return his affection genuinely, without fear?
All too soon Izuna turned him with gentle hands, and they faced each other.
"What are you doing here at this time of night? Your attendants are worried about you, you weren't in the hall anymore when they brought dinner. The courtiers were in a frenzy. I had to tell them you went to bed early. You're lucky your personal attendants are good friends of mine by now after all the time I've spent with you."
Ryuu-oh leaned forward, resting his forehead on Izuna's shoulder. Did Izuna have to remind him of his responsibilities? How could he do it anymore when the heaviness dragged him down, leaving no avenue for escape. He was feeling more and more tired everyday. The greying hair was a sign, like his diminishing eyesight. Soon enough his sin will ravage his face, and then he couldn't show Izuna the product of their love. He shouldn't anymore, he shouldn't want this anymore, for his sake, for Izuna's sake.
But the warmth of Izuna's body, the knowledge that deep inside Izuna he could summon passion by a kiss and a caress, and Izuna knew him well, how could he resist such temptations when no one was looking?
"Ryuu-oh?" The martial arts teacher's question was cut off by a kiss. A tang of desperation sullied the familiar taste, and Izuna left it unquestioned, resting a hand against his cheek as their kiss deepened. Ryuu-oh rarely seeked him out like this, and this night was different. It was like the nights from long ago, when Ryuu-oh had fewer responsibilities, when it was only forbidden because man must not love man.
Life had not been much easier, but there had been easier barriers to overcome then.
Tangled tongues and tangled limbs, warmth merging as two persons try to become one. This was all he desired as he waited for the coming of the night, and at times the only thing he lived for.
Izuna hovered above him, his face in shadow. "Ryuu-oh," he whispered. "They'll be looking for you. We should go." But his voice, the caress to Ryuu-oh's cheek, all of them said what Izuna really wanted. He didn't want to go back, as Ryuu-oh did too.
'They always look for me, but never find me. Only you, Izuna....'
He pulled down Izuna's head to press a softer, gentler kiss on to those lips that told him he was loved. "No. Let's stay here a while."
Izuna paused, just looking at him. It was obvious he was deciding what Ryuu-oh meant by it. Ryuu-oh flushed, not really wanting to say any more. Izuna accepted it at face value, taking what he offered. Ryuu-oh closed his eyes, grabbing at the grass under him as Izuna took his time.
'Let me stay with him until it finally overwhelms me, the taint of this forbidden love.'
