Writer's Block: Breaking the food chain

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Now there's a lot of things I would ban if I could, but one I never really understood the fascination for is balut. And to think you see it everywhere here! :D I have to say I only ever ate penoy so I don't really know what balut tastes like, but yeah. The picture says it all. >_>

Getting a couple of prompts from the postcard post: around half have been claimed. ^_^

Masarap siya dude. The trick is not to recognize the bird part. Although you could just toss it to Panda.

Asuzena is more deserving your scorn, wouldn't you say?

>_> Just - can't think of it when I've seen charts of chick development since childhood (thank you, veterinarian Dad, for contributing to the trauma).

Asuzena - I am banning the people who make them, so~

First of all, I would not ban foods. I would like to deny to cheat consumers. Chemical dyes and preservatives make the food beautiful and dead. A sort of glamor in the food industry. Because I have been doing photography for advertising products and dishes, I see the work of the Moscow restaurants. For example, fruit alcoholic drinks cost $ 40 are the basis of synthetic flavoring syrups. And fruits are added only for the species ...

I can photograph food with different lighting, but its Ingredients will not change.

Of course, fast food - terrible. One day, my friend from the States arrived in Moscow. Bottle of brandy he offered a wonderful snack hamburger McDonald's. My liver was a concussion. It was very painful. What is put into these burgers - a riddle ...

Isn't that the egg of an unhatched chicken? Lol, I saw a guy eat that of on a tv show and they said you can feel all the little bones crunch when you chew :P What is penoy?

[identity profile] blue-cage.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes it is. O_o; Apparently it's one of those things people hear about Filipino cuisine all the time.

Penoy is made like balut, except the egg isn't fertilized, so you get the yolk and the salty albumin without the alien lifeform. ^^;

yeah I prefer penoy myself. I'd ban ampalaya tho, sorry XD

[identity profile] blue-cage.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
We'll cook you ampalaya you'll like! :D

Balut scares me D:

[identity profile] blue-cage.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* It is an item worthy of fear. D: I think if there was ever a contest I'd drop out the moment they show it to me, even with a million at stake.

I've never tried it, but I don't think I could, with the chick staring at me. O_o

I think balut should be a test of manly courage. :( It's probably not as bad-tasting as pickled snakes and things like that.
